My article in this months issue of Linger

For this month in Linger, I’ve written a article on the vintage fashion industry in Ireland. I tried to get an insight into the small industry that is in Ireland and its main hub as far as I’m concerned, Galway. I featured my favourite online store Cotton Face Vintage and the lovely Sinead Lally who founded the website, so make sure you check the store out!

Sorry I’ve not been posting much lately, I’ve been so so busy with university and organising my FYP (thesis) but as part of my thesis and I have made an resolution to myself that I will post more so I promise there will be more posts! I won’t promise to do any Scrumptious Sunday Sevens for now, things are so hectic that I don’t know if I’ll be free to promise that for a while! But I do know I shall be updating more often so keep tuned in, and keep reading guys, my blogs hits are great at the moment and I have all of you great readers to thank for it!!

It was such a lovely day today that Brian and I went out searching for some fresh lemonade and came across this really cool wall covered in graffiti and decided I should do my Lookbook photos there today. I haven’t worn this Topshop playsuit very often but I love it, especially the little heart shaped buttons and said today was the day to wear it with my fantastic new hat from Cotton Face Vintage! I suppose its too cold back in Ireland to be wearing these things all the time!

Brian is over for the week so is now my official photographer, giving my friend Ailid a bit of time off! Its great to have a few lazy days, as we live so far apart when I’m back in Ireland, its rare we get this much time together and its brilliant to do it in the gorgeous weather here.

I’m just back from Vienna and the scorching heat so I’m glad to be inside for a little while to write this post. I’ve been busy this evening writing a new article for The Genteel on modelling so I’m looking forward to that going up on the website! I’m absolutely exhausted from 5 days of travelling and walking and sightseeing with my mum and I have a hectic week with moving and starting my job so it’ll be a crazy one this week, I’m sure there will be lots to report!

1. Retro Flame. A friend of mine who writes for blog Retro Flame is featured in the Sunday Times Magazine’s ‘What Are You Wearing’ section so congrats to Erika on the amazing publicity, she’s got great style!

2. Bowler hats! Very excited to get my new bowler hat from Cotton Face Vintage, the amazing vintage shop I’ve mentioned before on the blog. The bowler hats are at such a reasonable price and with my rash decision to cut off most of my hair last year, its one of the only hats that suit me! But I have to wait three weeks until I get it as my boyfriend Brian is picking it up and bringing it to Budapest..it’ll be a long three weeks!

3. I’m getting ready for my inter-railing trip at the moment and absolutely delighted that I’ve got my decent camera for the trip. Until Christmas, I had a small digital one, but knowing I love my blogging and photography, Brian *Santa* bought me mine and I use it ALL the time! Can’t wait to take loads of pictures of all the fabulous cities we’ll see!

4. Anouska Proetta Brandon, another Irish blogger I’ve been following a lot recently. I love her beautiful Lookbook posts and her style ranges from eclectic and funky to dreamy, she’s got a beautiful range!

5. Counting down the days…and months…till my 21st birthday so I can raise some money to get this little bad boy! My computer is 3 years old now and it isn’t great to say the least but I’m looking forward to getting a laptop that has more than 5 minutes battery life and doesn’t stick all the time!

6. I’m absolutely loving the city of Budapest and the weather is gorgeous, in the high 20s all weekend but, I’m missing my copies of British Vogue very badly!

7. Last but not least, I discovered a new past-time this week, lying in the sun! I can never just lie in the sun cos I’m so pale but I made a conscious effort to go out and enjoy doing nothing. At the end of it? Still like walking around more, but I’m sure I can stand doing nothing every once in a while :)

Internship and Other News

So many things have happened over the last few days, its about time I wrote them all down! I’ve been house-hunting and finally found a flat I can live in for the next two months, its odd to be excited about moving to a house that has wireless internet and a decent shower, but that’s the reality of Budapest!

Today I got some big news, I got an internship with a major photo agency here in Budapest called Northfoto and its partner company Microstocksolutions. My job will be dealing with celebrity photojournalism, from red carpet events, to style to Page 3 models. I’m very excited to be working with a such a prestigious company, its a huge asset to my CV and I’ll get to do some promotion work as well as captioning and keywording etc.

Linger Magazine have been onto me again to become a Runway Reporter for their magazine so I’ll have more news on that in the next few days but having a look through th magazine is a real treat and I’m really glad to get the chance to work with them.

I’ve been working on organising photo-shoots for a couple of weeks over the summer with a couple of friends to build up portfolios and I’ve come a long way this week by securing a venue and organising some wardrobe choices from Cotton Face Vintage, an amazing little company in Galway. I came across Cotton Face Vintage a while ago and she has some amazing pieces in her online store collection. I’m currently waiting for a bowler hat that I’m so psyched to get and all at a reasonable price. Sinead from Cotton Face Vintage has kindly offered to help out with our vintage shoot when it happens during the summer and I’m really looking forward to working with her :) check out her Facebook page here even just to check out some of the gorgeous photos she has up!

I’ve got one more piece of major news but I can’t spill that until its made official this evening so I’ll be announcing that on the blog tomorrow. I’ve had the news for a few days now and I’m so excited to say the least, I can barely keep wraps on it! But I’m being strong and will keep my lips sealed until tomorrow when I will update you all on the outcome of the ULSU Media Awards where one of my fashion writers is going to win an award!
