Heading off to a festival requires some serious wardrobe consideration. Forget trying to bundle together some of the clothes currently hanging in your wardrobe (unless you’re a regular festival goer) and think instead about investing in some key pieces to make sure you’re fully prepared clothes-wise for the upcoming festival season. Festival fashion is about more than just comfort – you’ll need to consider waterproof items and weather-proof items too. To make life easier for you, here is everything you need for the ultimate festival fashion this year, in five easy steps.
Whether rain or shine, it’s important to take a hat with you to shield any sun from your eyes, protect your face from sunburn and in the case of rain, stop your hair from going frizzy. You could choose any style of hat but for a true festival feel, consider buying a cowboy style hat or a trilby as the wide brim will help to shield your face more.
Perhaps one of the most versatile items of clothing, you can wear a bodysuit tucked into jeans and layered under a jumper if it’s cold, or simply team it with a pair of shorts on a hot summer’s day. Layering is the best way to go about festival clothing as you never know what the weather is going to be like. The main thing to remember when you’re packing your rucksack is that with layers, you can add or remove depending on the temperature.
Cut off denim shorts
Festival fashion is taking a step back in time this year and 90s inspired trends are all the rage. That means you will need a pair of super short cut off denim shorts for casual yet stylish daytime wear. Team your denim cut offs with a bodysuit as discussed above, or with an oversize baggy t shirt for a grungier look. And whilst we’re on the subject of denim cut off shorts, opt for a pair in a bleached acid wash for a true 90s look that will get you noticed.
Some women may prefer to dress a bit more girly – and there’s no rule to say that festival goers have to wear shorts and a t shirt. If you want to up your femininity with your outfit, why not consider investing in a skater dress. Incredibly flattering for all body shapes, wear a belt to emphasise your tiny waist and layer over a cropped denim jacket to keep the chill off in the evening. To stand out in the festival crowd, invest in a bold and bright skater dress – tangerine orange, acid lemon yellow and pillar box red are ideal colours to get you noticed.
When it comes to footwear, it is always sensible to take a pair of wellington boots just in case the field becomes waterlogged. Wellingtons aside, a good pair of hi tops will suit with any outfit and your feet won’t feel sore after a heavy weekend. Comfy but on trend, you really can’t go wrong at a festival with a pair of sporty hi tops.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the post, let me know if you have any other festival essentials you’d like to share!
